A NEW TYPE OF ENTERPRISE MODEL
WINNING IS SO UNFAIR or IS IT LOOSING?
Few complain about the game when they are winning at it, but one thing that COVID made light of is that the moment you shift from winning at the game to losing, it is unfair. This is just like children playing a board game at the moment one child goes from being a winner to being a looser. There are many REASONS of WHY it is unfair. A deeper question though is "HOW is it unfair?". The How is the more technical and structural side of things involving the structure and processes that breed inequality and division. These flowed mathematics is how we have a world that has both vast amounts of abundance and vast amounts of depravity at the same time. To take a look at a few of the existing structures, let's take a look at both community operated and individual operated enterprises. Both have strengths and both have weaknesses.
CO-OPERATION vs. CORPORATION
Co-ops have been around for perhaps centuries and while they can be founded on equality, they do not have the replication potential that the traditional business model has due to the fact that you can't really duplicate a community and that setting up a worker democracy to manage a business has complications. That said, if the traditional business structure has the potential for expansive replication and the co-op has the potential for infusing equality within the participants, then perhaps the best way to have both expansion and equality is through a fusion of both. This is the business model we are striving for.
THE FOLLOWING PROPOSED BUSINESS MODEL IS INTENDED TO BRING EQUALITY BETWEEN THE WORKERS AND THE COMPANY THEY WORK WITH. For that we must see both the business and the community working it as two coinciding entities at a 50%-50% equal value after expenses. There are exceptions to it, such as a company selling an artisans goods and services, as that is a different scenario than a joint project. The intent is to figure out the way of true equality in a way that workers are not struggling to make ends meet despite working a full time job. There is more than enough to go around is we can just put an end to the mental illness of hoarding and greed. This is just one attempt that is open to feedback as to potential inequalities within the proposed model.
"THE EQUILATERAL BUSINESS MODEL"
Every enterprise contains three components: 1. Business, 2. Social, and 3. Creative. They form a triangle with the total of the angles 180 degrees, 60:60:60 if the three angles are in equal proportions. Unfortunately, in many enterprises the business side dominates the majority of the 180 degrees possible to create weak structural integrity. The three angles do not support each other equally, that's a fact. We will redefine expectations by showing the potential of an enterprise where the business, social, and creative-innovative side are all in equal proportions to form an equilateral triangle. Obtuse angles will collapse, but this structure is self-reinforcing.
The strong social aspect will not only form a strong community bond between participants, but also with the customers. This gives them reason to put their heart into the enterprise, which improves efficiency and production. The creative and innovative side integrates art and inspiration within the workplace, which creates vitality within the participants. Having a worker inspired within a setting that is uplifting can have very powerful manifestation effects. The business angle works with the social and creative to ensure participants are taken care of through the sales and promotions of goods and services in a fair and equal way. The creative evolves the enterprise, the business keeps things orderly, and the social uses community to ensures strong and healthy interactions. This is how the three angles/ sides are self-supporting.
At the center of the equilateral triangle, technology will be a fourth binding element that will further strengthen all three sides. This includes media, live streaming, and technological advancements that are strongly integrated. While the Equilateral of the three angles supports each other in equality, the tools and technology help to reinforce the structural integrity of the enterprise.
This business model vastly contrasts the existing business models that minimizes participant creativity, expressive opportunities, and social interactions in robotic and rigid ways. For people seeing this new model in action, their minds will be greatly expanded in realizing what is truly possible. It will bring abundance to participants and workers that are in desperate need of being valued and compensated fairly.
FINANCIAL DISTRIBUTIONS: As the enterprises will be a fusion of a traditional business structure with a cooperative style approach, the participants working the enterprises will be more like a cooperative receiving of equal shares. At the same time, the vision for what it is to become and how it should be run is already deeply formulated within the partnering entity of the business. So workers should review the vision before hand to ensure it is compatible. The positions of the worker entity will be contractual, but they will still receive equal rations from that day in that same way a cooperative would. Here is the current break down. After costs are deducted, the net proceeds will be as such:
~50% goes back to the business entity.
~50% goes back to working participants regardless of position.
The proposed math of the working participants’ compensation: 1. The cumulative number of hours worked by ALL workers within the 24hr day will be totaled. 2. The workers’ 50% Net Proceeds will be divided by the total worker-hours to conclude the compensation rate for 1 hour. 3. An individual’s pay for the day is figured by multiplying the total hours they worked in the 24hrs by the pay-rate for 1 hour.
This model is devised under the assumption that all jobs, from the janitor to the manager, are of equal value to the whole. Though we anticipate the success to be on a grand scale within the enterprises we are working to launch, in a worst case scenario, If the one hour rate is less than living wage, the workers will still receive the living wage from the other half of the partnership. The objective is abundance for all!
In conclusion to financial distribution: Please remember that this is only the current working model in formulation and is a blending of the traditional business model with the cooperative business model. Cooperatives bring equality, but they seldom replicate and is not embraced within the business world. Our intent is to create a model that embraces equality which can be replicated easily within the current business world. There is no rule book to equality, so we must do our best to figure out the math of equality as we go along. What we present is an unheard of within the traditional business model. Businesses don’t give half of the proceeds to the workers.
In this new model, the internal community is treated like an entity and the business an entity that form an equal 50:50 partnership.
