COMPETITION vs. COLLABORATION
Competition
competes with collaboration. Collaboration does not compete with
competition.
It seems that there is some competition with regard to the reigning perspective of competition vs. collaboration. The basis of most all things ill within our global population can be tied to the aspect of people competing for the same thing.
Wars are spawned from countries competing for power and-or lands and resources. People compete to hold status of who is dominant by making the other feel less than adequate, as if some bully on the playground trying to bring down the value of another to appear to have the greater value. Businesses compete for the costumers while holding the objectives of smashing the other companies into bankruptcy, making people jobless, homeless, and one step closer to death. Many corporations put their employees against each other to rise up the corporate ladder. Politicians compete years before elections, often relying on mud slinging tactics to reduce the value of another rather than showing the value of their accomplishments and letting the rest speak for itself. Politicians use lobbyists and their positions of power to invest in stock market businesses with one hand while holding the pen that writes the laws of who wins and who looses in the other... competing against the population they are supposed to progress. The modern static evolution of sports puts individuals and communities in rivalry to instigate adrenaline rushes from the war state, while bombarding them with competitive advertisements which further fuels the war states sometimes erupting in physical and domestic violence. Couples and families often compete at home and in their relationships... sometimes to win an argument and hold their status of being right and sometimes because of financial division. The fact of the matter is that the whole premises of competition is about dividing the common bond between people. This is undeniable. It is impossible to have world peace when competition reigns over collaboration. World peace is the only thing that will save the world from self destructing.
In the Capitalist or rather “Suto-Capitalist Society”, competition is seen as the driving factor. People compete for jobs, companies compete for customers, and governments compete for world domination. If you were to take away all the money and just look at it in terms of goods and services... there is enough people hungry in the world that food companies should not have to worry about not having customers. There are enough people without appliances that all the people pushing all the appliances on people would never have to compete again. How many empty homes are there and how many homeless people are there? So the problem with our capitalist society is not the lack of jobs or resources... it is how the wealth is distributed. This is no secret, as people have know this since the beginning of the misunderstanding. That much aside, the fact of the matter is that there is enough resources to be distributed and plenty of work to be done that everyone on this planet can both realize and fulfill their purpose and have everything they need, desire, and want. If everyone has a place within society, than there is no need to compete... and all that is left is world collaboration of all people and all nations.
There are those that will still argue that we need competition to create quality goods... that is saying that we need the fear of desperation in order to excel our progression. Fear of death perhaps plays a part in keeping us alive in chaotic situations like being trapped in a jungle, but does it really make us better people.
So here is a question to contemplate...”What if the simple observation of others creating immense beauty was enough to inspire us to also create great beauty and give back some of the very beauty we received?” We wouldn't need fear to motivate us... we could just you love and beauty as our inspiration. Perhaps it would start small at first, but if we allowed for this love of life to replace the fear of death, than the momentum from it would grow to a point where even the most critical skeptic would be bewildered with amazement and wonderment of what is possible. The inspiration would overcome them to believe in the possibility of the global collaboration.
So once we, as individuals, have come to terms of first understanding and knowing the “what” and “why” of this collaboration, we can move on to asking the “how is this possible?” question. This takes us back to the initial problem of distribution of wealth. How do those without gain the ability to acquire the surplus of inventory sitting on shelves right now. The very surplus that can't be obtained is collecting tax payer money to be written off as losses by the providing companies.
Legally there are ways to hold politicians accountable for using their powers to propel their personal profits at the expense of those they govern. Legally there are ways to hold companies responsible for leading their profits with the activities of “designed obsolescence” where various parts of products are reduced in quality so that they expire and break down after warranties expire. Legally, money that goes into writing off losses can be distributed to those looking to consume to buy the various products themselves. Legally, the government of the people own the very losses that the tax payer money gone into paying for in the first place... and should be distributed directly to the poor population without, rather than being kept by the companies within their inventory. This would include every empty real estate space collecting losses... while families are living homeless in shelters and on the streets. Legally there are many things that can be done to redistribute the wealth with ethical practice, but there is a question of collective support for those whom are the ones that are in violation... those whom are pulling the strings and paying the politic pocketbook.
Are there enough people in positions of power to gather together and legally force these changes? Are there enough people in decision making positions of power who believe that this global shift into collaboration is actually obtainable and whom would be willing to put there reputations on the line with regard to those whom would disagree with their “foolish ideals?” Are there enough people who trust?
Those questions yet to be answered or at least to my current awareness. Perhaps there are those in such positions whom know the answers and are authentically working for change. Thankfully... even if these governing collectives don't live up to their sworn oaths... there are other ways of giving those without the ability to create the abundance needed to fulfill their destined purpose within society.
Some people have developed concepts of time banks that balance out hours of time spent to equate to equal hours obtained... an hour for an hour. Other people have developed alternate mathematical currencies for bringing balance to our economy. Other people have developed a true credit system based off of building up value within the individuals and helping to work toward their purpose within society, as compared to our current credit system that subtract the value from individuals. There are many alternate methods of distributing wealth out there that should be evaluated... but it takes first believing it is possible for it to be possible.
I have my own personal ways that deal with the voluntary surrender of wealth by those with abundance to those in need. It deals with balancing out of the triad of business, social, and artistic within companies to be well rounded on all fronts to be bridged together through technology. Our current triangle of the three is business dominates while employee creativity is removed from the system and beneficial social exchanges are reserved to outside the work place environment, minimizing the intellectual development between employees to only board member positions. This is not always the case, but it seems to be the dominant corporate way.
With that said, this takes us back to the purpose of this site in the first place... the development of cooperative style community enterprises rich in artistry, social enlightenment, ethical business practices, and technological evolutions. To learn more on my perspective on the variations of the co-op, please check out my projects page and under global vision.
There are those that may see my promoting myself as a competition against modern corporate ways... but that is only because there are those that choose to compete... and so competition is present. This is not my hypocrisy, but a forced imposition. The larger vision is that everyone gets to experience abundance and total and complete fulfillment... so what ever you may see on this site is working toward that vision of global collaboration.
Perhaps setting up a landscape cooperative seems like competition to the methods of other landscapers, but the whole premise of this article of why competition is not needed is that there are plenty of landscapes out there awaiting designers. There are so many that we will need way more landscaper than we currently have. This applies to just about everything within society.
There is an abundance of wealth and money just being hoarded and sitting in peoples bank accounts... the solution is creating something so dynamic and new that they would be willing to surrender such resources to the movement in exchange for a beauty that they have never known otherwise.
Once the wealth and resources are obtained, anything but the worker owned worker run cooperative... would just be taking the wealth and shooting it to the top of the corporate ladder to be spent in wasteful ways that doesn't benefit those that need it most defeating the purpose in the first place. Redistribution of wealth is the objective. This in not a movement of competition against the corporation... think of it as a collaboration project to improve dynamically the lives of every man, woman, and child in every culture and nation within the world without prejudice or discrimination against class, race, or gender. It is a new way of living... a global vision to turn the differences that divide us into the differences that unite us.
